GMC Sierra Tailgate

It may be accurate to say that the GMC Sierra MultiPro tailgate ‘modified’ the capabilities expected of pickup truck tailgates. This would be true, but only because there is a figure of speech called understatement.

Those familiar with the GMC Sierra MultiPro tailgate already know of its superiority. For the others, this synopsis of features will lead to your own appreciation of how this expertly engineered component benefits you.

First introduced in 2019, the MultiPro tailgate offers enhanced usability, flexibility, and functionality via 6-different configurable positions: a primary gate, load stop, a foldable inner gate, a full-width step, an inner gate load stop, and an inner gate work surface. As a result, the MultiPro tailgate received rave reviews, followed by immediate acceptance from truck buyers.

Previously, the MultiPro tailgate was offered on 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 Elevation trim levels exclusively with the Crew Cab configuration, while Sierra 1500 SLT, Sierra 1500 AT4, and Sierra 1500 Denali trims equipped it as standard. Now, the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 offers the MultiPro tailgate as an available option on SLE and Elevation trims without restrictions, while the feature continues as standard on SLT, AT4, and Denali trims. The base Sierra trim does not offer this feature on either model year.

Meanwhile, the 2021 GMC Sierra HD extends the MultiPro tailgate feature as standard to SLE trims, whereas the previous 2020 GMC Sierra HD SLE offered the feature as an option in conjunction with certain packages. The base model Sierra HD continues to offer the feature with the Convenience Package, while the rest of the 2021 model lineup continues to offer it as standard.
