HISTORY OF CENTRAL BUICK GMC IN WINTER HAVEN
In 1911, the growth of Winter Haven was accompanied by the promise of adventure in the whistle of a steam driven locomotive and the putt-putt sound of skinny-tired motor cars. Back then there were about fifteen cars in Winter Haven and most folks got here by train.  Winter Haven had acquired its name that same year and went on to capture the imaginations of Hollywood moguls and sun-seekers from all over the country. The News Chief began publication in 1911 and the first Publix Super Market opened on Fourth Street NW in September, 1930.
